Spirit of America: Independence Day Celebration
Historic Smithfield 1000 Smithfield Plantation Rd, Blacksburg, VA, United StatesHelp us ring in Independence Day by spending the day at a house that saw the beginning of a new nation! Enjoy house tours, shop in our Museum Store & observe artillery displays by Giles Artillery.
At 6:00pm, gather for an Independence Day Ceremony featuring traditional excerpts from the Declaration of Independence and Frederick Douglass, followed by a rousing cannon fire salute. Enjoy flavored shaved ice and food from our vendors: Aloha Eddie's Shaved Ice and Sam's Hot Dogs, and enjoy a patriotic concert by The Blacksburg Community Band, immediately following the Independence Day Ceremony at 6:30pm.
Tickets can be purchased on site at the time of the event. $7.00/person grants site admission. Kids 5yrs and under are free.
