The South River, one of two urban trout fisheries in the state, flows through downtown providing the opportunity to catch trophy-size rainbow and brown trout. Historic downtown boasts trendy restaurants, coffee shops, art galleries, and museums. The vaudeville-era Wayne Theatre attracts national acts as well as house-produced theater. Tempt your tastebuds at three craft breweries located on the Shenandoah Beerwerks Trail or sample the many flavors of kombucha at Blue Ridge Bucha’s taproom.

Some of Virginia’s best hiking is at Waynesboro’s back door. The one-mile hike up Humpback Rocks, with breathtaking views of both the Shenandoah and Rockfish valleys, is one of the most popular hikes on the Parkway. For an urban stroll, check out the Waynesboro Street Arts Trail highlighting the town’s murals and other public art in the form of a scavenger hunt at www.traipse.co/waynesboro.
