Steep Canyon Rangers at the Blue Ridge Music Center

The Blue Ridge Music Center presents western North Carolina-based bluegrass band and Grammy winners Steep Canyon Rangers live in concert at its outdoor amphitheater on the Blue Ridge Parkway (Milepost 213) just south of Galax, Va., just north of Mount Airy, N.C. and just east of Sparta, N.C.
Steep Canyon Rangers have been on a journey that is uniquely their own. Formed while in college at UNC-Chapel Hill, the band dove head first into bluegrass in its most traditional form. Over the years, they rose to the top of the bluegrass genre, headlining festivals such as Merlefest and Grey Fox Bluegrass. Steep Canyon Rangers have expanded their genre into country, jam, and Americana, with their sound often being compared to icons like, The Band, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and the modern Zac Brown Band. Steep Canyon Rangers have recorded nine solo albums and took home the Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album for “Nobody Knows You” in 2013. The bands latest record “Morning Shift” was released in spring 2023.
