Be sure to stop by the Peaks of Otter Visitor Center to find author Leonard M. Adkins chatting with visitors and signing copies of his book “Hiking and Traveling the Blue Ridge Parkway.”

He’ll be there Saturday through Monday, from 10am to 4pm. His top-selling guidebook covers key park features and detailed descriptions of all 255 trails, including eight in the Peaks area plus intersections with the Appalachian Trail.

Having walked every mile with a sense of humor and a surveyor’s measuring wheel, Leonard has countless recollections and recommendations to share with park lovers at every skill level.
